The Long Road from Tall Trees to Tall Houses, 2016

Im Februar 2016 eröffnete der Salzburger Kunstverein eine Ausstellung mit dem neuen Werkkorpus The Long Road from Tall Trees to Tall Houses von Hans Schabus. Für dieses Projekt durchquerte Schabus die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika von Westen nach Osten auf seinem Fahrrad: eine Strecke von 5.352 km in 42 Tagen. Die Dokumentation dieser Reise basiert auf einer gesetzten, täglichen Routine und bildet die Grundlage für die Ausstellung in Salzburg: eine Fotografie seines Fahrrades zu Mittag, eine Fotografie von seinem Hotelzimmer, in dem er übernachtete, und eine Postkarte, die er von seinem Tagesziel aus nach Hause schickte. Die Ausstellung wanderte im Frühjahr 2017 in erweiterter Form in die Kunsthalle Darmstadt.

In February 2016, Salzburger Kunstverein opened an exhibition of Hans Schabus with a new body of work titled The Long Road from Tall Trees to Tall Houses. For this project, Schabus covered a distance of 5,352 km on his bicycle in 42 days, crossing the United States of America from West to East. Documentation of this journey is based on a daily routine - one photograph taken of his bicycle at high noon, one of the hotel room in which he spent the night, and a postcard that he would send home each day - and provides the basis of the exhibition in Salzburg. The exhibition travelled on to Kunsthalle Darmstadt in an expanded form in early 2017.
