First Monographs
Im Frühjahr 2022 beginnt Phileas die Publikationsreihe „First Monographs“, die künftig jährlich das Werk aufkommender österreichischer und in Österreich lebender KünstlerInnen vorstellen soll. Die erste Ausgabe erscheint zum Werk der Künstler*innen Sophie Thun.
Thun arbeitet vornehmlich mit analoger Fotografie. Ihren Arbeiten rücken oftmals die verborgenen Produktionsprozesse in den Fokus und hinterfragen die konventionelle Ausstellungsmöglichkeiten des Mediums Fotografie. Phileas hat bereits zwei internationale Projekte von Sophie Thun unterstützt: eine Ausstellung im Kim? Contemporary Art Centre in Riga und eine Gruppenausstellung im Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst Rom (MACRO).

In Spring 2022, Phileas will launch a new series of annual publications. The First Monographs are intended to introduce the work of the most promising emerging Austrian and Austrian-based artists, beginning with Sophie Thun.
Thun works primarily with analogue photography to question the medium’s processes of production and means of exhibition. She has previously collaborated with Phileas on two international projects; an exhibition at Kim? Contemporary Art Centre in Riga, and a group exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Rome (MACRO)
